Hazizi Jaafar

Hazizi Jaafar is currently the Percussion Group Leader for the Singapore Armed Forces Band.

Prior to that he was the Principal Percussionist for the SAF Central Band. As a leader he has led

his section to successful tours in the United States, Russia, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden,

Scotland, China, Japan, Vietnam and Malaysia.

Hazizi is a member of the Society of International Rudimental Drummers (SIRD) and has

represented Singapore and the SAF in Bern, Switzerland and Paris, France. As an active clinician

locally and as well as abroad, his area of emphasis is around rudiments, history and culture.

Locally he has given workshops to the Singapore National Youth Orchestra, Yong Siew Toh

Conservatory of Music and Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts.

Prior to his enlistment into the military, he has performed for local groups such as The

Philharmonic Winds, The Philharmonic Orchestra and the Singapore Wind Symphony Percussion

Ensemble to name a few. He is an active drummer and can be seen performing at venues around

Singapore with his band.
